Vision Therapy Helps Children Overcome Reading Challenges

Sunshine Vision Development Center, in Natick, Massachusetts, has reported impressive results for children with reading disabilities, citing 85 percent of patients are showing major improvements in reading fluency, comprehension and focus after only 12 weeks of personalized care.

Founder Dr. Azadeh Kelly explains that vision therapy works similarly to physical therapy, but focuses on the eyes and brain. The center uses specialized equipment, including prisms, lenses and interactive computer programs, to provide a fun and engaging therapy experience. This approach has been particularly effective for younger patients that enjoy the interactive nature of the programs, resulting in quicker and stronger improvements.

Vision therapy helps children succeed in and out of the classroom by training the eyes and brain to work together, boosting overall vision skills and enhancing focus. Sunshine Vision also helps children struggling with spatial awareness and coordination, addressing issues that glasses alone cannot resolve.

The center offers a free phone consultation with Kelly to assess whether vision therapy could benefit each child. Those struggling with reading, poor reading comprehension or just not performing to their full potential are encouraged to reach out to the office, where the staff is committed to helping people of all ages with vision development and rehabilitation.
