Free Lecture on Genetics, Epigenetics and Methylation
Gary Kracoff
Learn what your DNA can tell you and how to use this information at a free discussion with Dr. Gary Kracoff from 7 to 8:30 p.m., September 18, at Johnson Compounding & Wellness. Attendees will discuss what gene single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) are, what they tell us and how to use this information to help with current issues and to help stay healthy as the years roll on.
SNPs occur normally throughout a person’s DNA and they act as biological markers, helping scientists locate genes that are associated with disease. When SNPs occur within a gene or in a regulatory region near a gene, they may play a more direct role in disease by affecting the gene’s function.
According to Kracoff, “We cannot change our genes or treat gene corruption, but we can help our bodies clean up the metabolic mess that has occurred and assist with lifestyle changes and nutritional support.”
