The Connection - Mind Your Body Film Screening
SPECIAL EVENT SCREENING IN BOSTON
Thursday 18th September, 7:30pm, Coolidge Corner Theatre, Brookline, MA
A film proving we have more influence on our health than we ever thought possible.
After being diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, journalist and filmmaker Shannon Harvey
travelled the world in search of the missing link in healthcare. From interviewing world-leading
scientists to meeting people with remarkable stories of recovery from severe back pain, heart
disease, infertility, cancer and multiple sclerosis, this investigative film reveals how frontier
research is proving there’s a direct connection between our mind and body when it comes to our
health.
The film features a line-up of internationally recognised experts including Boston locals Dr.
Herbert Benson, Dr. Sara Lazar and Dr. Alice Domar. It also features renowned mindfulness
teachers including Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, pioneering researchers including Dr. Dean Ornish and
integrative medical experts like Dr. Andrew Weil.
The Special Event Screening in Boston will be followed by a panel discussion featuring Dr.
Herbert Benson (Director Emeritus of the Benson-Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine, and
Mind Body Medicine Professor of Medicine, Harvard Medical School) as well as the film’s
director Shannon Harvey.
The Boston Globe described Dr. Benson as a medical rock star after he wrote his best selling
book The Relaxation Response. The book outlined his research and approach to countering the
harmful effects stress has on our body. His pioneering medical research continues to this day
and Dr. Benson’s recent findings that the Relaxation Response is able to turn off genes
affecting disease has generated renewed interest in mind body medicine around the world.
At a time when 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with a chronic disease in their lifetime and the
global cost of healthcare for chronic illness is in the trillions, The Connection proves we have
more influence on our health that we ever thought possible.
