Conference on Urban Farming to Bring Boston Food Community Together
The 2nd Annual Massachusetts Urban Farming Conference (UFC), a forum to share knowledge, information and ideas regarding urban farming, will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., March 8, at Northeastern University, in Boston. The UFC is designed to report on current Massachusetts urban farming issues and projects, address infrastructure gaps in the urban farming industry and serve as a resource on cutting edge models for healthy, sustainable practices.
Farmers, commercial buyers, policy makers, investors and others come together in interactive panels and expert discussions on diverse and relevant topics with distinguished Conversation Leaders. Keynote Speaker Malik Yakini, a food activist and educator, will address the crowd with Urban Farming Lessons From Detroit. Other discussion topics include, Successes and Challenges to Urban Farming in Massachusetts, Organics and Pest Management, Viable Farms in the City, Urban Farming Crop Planning and Production, BackYard Businesses: Chickens in the City and Beekeeping, among others. A networking reception closes out the day.
