Embracing the Season

I love the fall! As much as I hate to see my favorite season of summer slip away, a beautiful, crisp, clear fall morning touches my soul in a way summer doesn’t quite reach.

I recently attended a class where the instructor challenged the group to get a head start on January and consider making resolutions in the fall rather than wait until that time of year when we’re more likely to want to roll over rather than lace up for the gym or get outside. I fell off the daily exercise wagon some time ago, so I took his advice and am leaning into some incremental changes and getting back to hitting the streets early in the morning to catch sunrise’s inspiration more regularly.

We’ve got some golden nuggets for you this month, starting with our feature story, “The Rise of Bodywork Modalities: Integrating Innovative and Ancient Healing Arts.” In it, Marlaina Donato explores how once-overlooked therapies like chiropractic care and acupuncture have gained recognition in modern medicine. She highlights various bodywork techniques, including acupuncture for cancer care and addiction recovery, modern chiropractic tools, and emerging massage methods, emphasizing their expanding roles in holistic health.

In “Healing Emotional Wounds: Trauma and Addiction-Integrated Treatment Modalities,” Gabriel Jean Joseph delves into the deep connection between trauma and addiction. By exploring holistic, trauma-informed care and complementary therapies, this article reveals powerful strategies for breaking the cycle of addiction and fostering lasting emotional healing and recovery.

Of course, fall also means the return of comforting, hearty meals, but who says comfort can’t be good for you? In “Favorite Fall Foods Packed with Nutrition,” by Alora Frederick, we celebrate the season’s best—from pumpkin to parsnips and even tomatillos. Here, we learn about the value of in-season eating and get some great preparation ideas while we’re at it.

Here’s to embracing the season, resetting where we need to and taking those small, but significant steps toward feeling good!

Peace,
