Celebrate the Empowerment Factory’s 10-Year Anniversary
The Empowerment Factory, a
Pawtucket, Rhode Island-based nonprofit, will celebrate 10 years of serving
local families with a lively night including live music by The New Providence
Big Band, refreshments, a silent auction and raffles from 6 to 9 p.m. on May 22, 2024,
at The MET, in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. All proceeds will go directly to
developing free, unique and accessible
community programming to empower at-risk, kindergarten-to- eighth-grade students of low-income families with the
skills they need to be happier, healthier and more successful in school and
life.
Over the past 10 years, more than 7,000 children in underserved
communities primarily in Pawtucket, Central Falls and Providence have been
helped through accessible and enriched programming. Events, distance learning
and other activities blend social emotional learning, art, literacy and
environmental education to engage youth in learning and place them on a
positive learning trajectory.
As children are struggling with foundational problem solving and social
skills more than ever, this fundraiser will help provide further programming
that employs a social emotional learning model concentrating on building
children’s creativity, self-esteem and civic pride.
Gail Ahlers, founder and executive director of The Empowerment Factory,
says, “As a small nonprofit, we are uniquely positioned to be nimble and responsive to the needs of our community. The
Empowerment Factory has been extraordinarily successful in serving our
constituents’ needs because of this ability. I look forward to celebrating 10
years of empowering our children to understand that they are capable of
reaching for their dreams and living happy and successful lives.”
Event sponsors include Bank Newport, Bristol County Savings Bank,
